Records Bureau Management

The Huntington Park Police Department maintains records in a computerized Records Management System (RMS). All citations, crime reports, arrest reports, and traffic accident reports generated by the police department are entered into the RMS database by the Records Division Staff. Records Clerks are responsible for maintaining all reports, records, and files associated with the police department.

Vehicle Release Information

All vehicles require a release obtained from the front counter of the Huntington Park Police Department or at Mr. C’s Towing, and fees are as follows:

  • DUI Release – $335.72
  • Unlicensed Driver – $167.87
  • All Others – $114.16

Payment Method

Payment can be made in cash, credit cards, cashiers check or money order payable to the City of Huntington Park on Mondays through Thursdays 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM only. Checks are not accepted. Money orders are accepted as the only form of payment on all other hours. Vehicles are only released to the registered or legal owner(s) of the vehicle, and this person must have a valid driver’s license. In the event the registered or legal owner does not possess a valid driver’s license, they must possess a valid form of identification. In addition, a driver must be present who does have a valid driver’s license. Once a release is obtained, contact the tow company for total storage fees and hours the vehicle may be retrieved from the tow yard.

Crime and Incident Reports

Reports may be released to:

  • The victim(s)
  • An authorized representative of the victim
  • An insurance carrier against which a claim has been made and/or might be made
  • Any person suffering a loss

Reports will not be released if:

  • The disclosure would endanger the safety of a witness or other party involved
  • Endanger the successful completion of the investigation and /or a related investigation
  • The name and address of a victim of certain specified crimes will not be disclosed

Traffic Collision Reports

Reports may be released to:

  • Driver involved in the collision
  • Registered owner of vehicle(s) involved
  • Parents of a minor driver involved
  • Passengers involved listed in report
  • Insurance Companies representing a party involved
  • Those incurring property damage or civil liability as a result of the accident
  • Attorneys representing any of the above
  • Reports are not released to witnesses

Arrest Reports

Copies of arrest reports can only be released through subpoena to the Custodian of Records.
No arrest reports will be released if:

  • The disclosure would endanger the safety of a person.
  • The disclosure would endanger the successful completion of the investigation or a related investigation.
  • The arrest is a medical or similar detention and disclosure would constitute an invasion of privacy.

Juvenile Reports

Juvenile Court has the exclusive authority to determine whom, and the extent to which, juvenile record information may be released. Release of juvenile information requires the permission of the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court. Parents of a juvenile may receive a redacted copy of certain types of reports upon proof providing proof of a birth certificate. All others will need to petition the Juvenile Court directly for the release of that record.
